"The Art Of..." by John Qwest & DJ BreakemOff is a masterpiece. Released on January 18, 2012, if the hiphop game had a draft, these artists would be your first round picks. It's rare that you hear a CD that you never need to use your fast forward button, but constantly use your rewind button. The production is flawless with an old school feel and smooth jazz delivery. You will notice a few scenes from Idlewild which fits perfectly. After the CD's intro by ApartmentK, Scotty wakes up the people sleeping with "Good Morning" which is a nice uptempo track to get you started. "Natural" will then pull you into the jazz club, Idlewild style. "CMEWHENYOUCME" is one of those laid back feel good songs and Intalek set it off. The CD continues on with nothing but hits. "Across the Sky" by KD and "Rainy Night In Georgia" are tracks you can't help but nod and play over an over. Tabius Tate is argurably the best unsigned artist in the game that uses clever metaphors that are on point. An example from "Rainy Night In Georgia", "Ay, Georgia, Georgia, I f*ck with you, I f*ck with you. Came on vacation just to visit, now I'm stuck with you" and "I kicked it with Savannah for the money, til Columbus got jealous and, Augusta took her from me. Macon was cool with me, Decateur kept me strapped boy. Marietta racist, cause she only f*ck with black boys, in Cobb County." |
